RetentionCheck vs Baremetrics
They show you churn is happening. We tell you why.
Baremetrics is a subscription analytics dashboard, not a churn-feedback analyzer. It surfaces the rate; RetentionCheck surfaces the reasons. Pricing alone tells the story: Baremetrics scales with MRR ($129+ to $1,500+/mo), RetentionCheck is $249 once for lifetime.

What Baremetrics does
Baremetrics connects to your billing system (Stripe, Recurly, etc.) and gives you dashboards for MRR, churn rate, LTV, and other subscription metrics. It answers "what is my churn rate?" and "how is revenue trending?", essential questions, but purely quantitative. It also includes basic cancellation recovery (Recover product) and email insights.
What RetentionCheck does differently
RetentionCheck answers the question Baremetrics can't: "why are customers churning?" You paste qualitative feedback, cancellation reasons, exit survey responses, support tickets, and get AI-categorized patterns with severity rankings and actionable recommendations. It works independently of your billing system.
When to use Baremetrics
Use Baremetrics when you need quantitative subscription analytics, MRR tracking, churn rate over time, LTV calculations, revenue forecasting. It's the dashboard for your subscription business metrics.
When to use RetentionCheck
Use RetentionCheck when you know your churn rate but don't know what's driving it. If Baremetrics tells you churn spiked 2% last month, RetentionCheck tells you it was because 35% of cancellations cited pricing-value mismatch after your last price increase.
The verdict
These are complementary tools. Baremetrics tells you the numbers, RetentionCheck tells you the story behind the numbers. Many founders start with Baremetrics to see the problem, then need something like RetentionCheck to diagnose it. You can use both, or start with RetentionCheck for free to understand the why before investing in a metrics platform.
