When expansion revenue exceeds revenue lost to cancellations.
Negative churn happens when expansion MRR from existing customers exceeds the MRR lost to cancellations and downgrades in the same period. It is the holy grail of SaaS economics because revenue grows even with zero new customer acquisition. Achieved primarily through seat-based pricing, usage-based tiers, and add-on products.
